Spend the day sailing aboard ViVA and spend your evening in historic Castine at The Manor Inn

[The Manor Inn]

The Manor Inn is located in Castine, Maine, a year round historic community and one of the oldest villages in the country. The flags of four nations have flown over this peninsula at the confluence[Manor Front View] of the Penobscot and Bagaduce rivers on the Penobscot bay. The antique grace of its genteel clapboard residences and elm lined streets present a picture perfect New England setting. The majestic elms, synonymous with the bygone "main street USA," are meticulously cared for and considered to be a local treasure.

The Manor was built in 1895 as a summer residence for Arthur Fuller of Boston, commodore of the South Boston Yacht Club. It was originally built in the Victorian style and was later redesigned by Clark & Russell, Architects, Boston, to its present shingled cottage style for the McClintock family. A porte cochere passes through the center of the building providing a dramatic entrance to the Inn. The entry-reception area is flanked, on one side, with a beautifully detailed staircase with a palladian window, and, on the other side, a handsome "Gathering room" with a large fireplace, comfortable seating and a baby grand piano. This grand "cottage" has guest rooms that are uncommonly large; four have fireplaces and all have private baths.

The grounds encompass almost 5 acres and offer gardens and lawn sports for your enjoyment. Bordering a conservation forest of over 130 acres, trails abound for hiking and walking in the woods. The old carriage trails are wonderful for winter cross skiing. Access to these nature trails are just out the back door of the Manor Inn.
